Kingdoms
Archaea Bacteria- harsher environments, more similar to eukaryotes than bacteria is
Thermophiles- Hot environments
Halophiles- Salty environments
Thermoacidic - hot or acidic environment

Eubacteria
Typical Arrangements
- bacillus- rod
-caccus- round
-spirillum-spiral

Typical Shapes
-diplo- pair
-skepto-strip
-staphyls- cluster

Gram Stain
Gram +
- has outer layer of peptidogycan, which holds the stain
- easily treated

Gram -
- has a cell wall over its peptidogycan, so it does not hold a stain as well as gram +
- hard to treat
